His lovingkindness is everlasting

Psalm 136:1, “Give thanks to the Lord for He is good; For his lovingkindness is everlasting.” Psalm 136 has 26 verses and every verse tells us, ‘His lovingkindness is everlasting”. The ability to know and understand these words are so important in our daily walk with God. The book of Psalms is filled with God’s greatness and compassions. It describes God’s strength and the security we have when we cry out to God. We are to walk in the ways of God. Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 13:13, “But now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.” Verse 4-8 says, “Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant; does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own; is not provoked; does not take into account a wrong suffered; does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things; hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails, but if there are gifts of prophecy, they will be done away, if there are tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away.” His lovingkindness is everlasting. It does not end. Psalm 139:23-24 tells us, “Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me and know my anxious thoughts; and see if there be any hurtful way in me and lead me in the everlasting way.” Love never fails. John 3:16 reminds us of God’s love, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” The greatest of faith, hope and love, is love. We need to have God search our hearts every day to lead us in His everlasting way. The challenge we have is summed up in the chapter of 1 Corinthians 13. Verse 2 says, “And if I have the gift of prophecy and know all mysteries and knowledge, and If I have all faith to remove all mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.” We cannot tell others about God if our walk with Him is missing the greatest thing, love. Total dependence on God is the only way we can show others the way to God. Search me, O God and know my heart and see if there be any hurtful way in me is my prayer each day.
