Job 1:8-11, “And the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job? For there is no one like him on earth, a blameless and upright man, fearing God and turning away from evil.” “Then Satan answered the Lord: Does Job fear God for nothing? Has Thou not made a hedge about him and his house and all that he has on every side? Thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land. But put forth Thy hand now and touch all that he has, he will surely curse Thee in Thy face.” There is a great message in the book of Job. One that shows us about faith during trials. It begins with the limits of Satan. He had to ask permission from God to go against a man who put his trust in God in everything in his life. Satan thought if the blessings from God were removed, he would have the chance to get Job to curse God. The book of Job tells us how God puts a hedge of protection around us. One that cannot be breached by a weakling like the devil. The devil had to ask permission to go after Job. Think about this. Are our praises to God only during the times He has blessed us? Job 2:10 says “But he said to her, “You speak as one of the foolish women speaks. Shall we indeed accept good from God and not accept adversity?” In all of this, Job did not sin with his lips.” Job’s wife asked him if he still held fast to his integrity, but to curse God and die. The word integrity is having the quality of being honest and having a consistent and uncompromising adherence to strong moral and ethical principles and values. Job’s wife challenged Job to question his integrity toward God. Is our trust and faith in God consistent? Our trials and testing can show us where we stand, if our trust is truly in God. Job’s friends didn’t understand Job’s trust. They advised him he must have sin in his life to be going through these trials. They totally missed the mark on advice. You see the Bible tells us in Revelation 12:17, “And the dragon was enraged with the woman and went off to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus.” Why was the dragon so enraged? Verse 10 of Revelation 12 tells us, “And I heard a loud voice in heaven saying, “Now the salvation, and the power, and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren has been thrown down who accuse them before our God, day and night.” If we realize the reason for our testing is because we got the enemy’s attention as a child of God, we should understand 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, “Rejoice always” pray without ceasing: in everything give thanks: for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” The one thrown down, who accuses us day and night before God had to ask God’s permission first. 1 Corinthians 10:13 is God’s promise to us. “No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to many and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, that you may be able to endure it.” Rejoice always! Greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world!! If you got the enemies attention, hold fast to God’s trust. God believes you will stand! For the salvation and the power of His Christ has overcome, and you too will overcome.
