Don’t lose heart

Galatians 6:9, “And let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we shall reap if we do not grow weary.” My brother gave me a plant at the beginning of the summer. A beautiful hanging plant. It’s an annual petunia, I think. He told me it likes a lot of water, but I needed to tend to it every day. Plucking the wilted ones off it so it would always be blooming. He told me to talk to it when doing this. Laughing he said it wants to be told it is loved so it keeps blooming. Plucking off the wilted ones lets the plant push through the new flowers. If I don’t tend to it daily it isn’t as full as it should be. When I pluck off the wilted and dying ones, the next day it has new ones and so full of color. I think God used my brother to me give me this flowering plant as a reminder that doing good is a daily effort. Seeing it bring forth the new blooms, is the reward I get each day. A reminder that my efforts are not in vain. Colossians 3:23-24 tells us, “Whatever you do, do your work heartily as for the Lord rather than for men; knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is for the Lord Christ whom you serve.” “And let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we don’t grow weary.”
