2 Timothy 4:2-3, “preach the word, be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears ticked, they will accumulate for themselves teachers to their own desires.” Paul tells us in 2 Timothy 3:16-17, “All scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.” Today’s society wants to have their ears tickled, so they seek out teachers that do just that. This epistle warns us to be ready in season and out of season. With gentleness, we are told to correct those who are in opposition, that God may grant them repentance and lead to the knowledge of truth. 2 Timothy 2:26 says, “and they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been held captive by him to do his will.” We are told in the last days difficult times will come. We are directed in the scripture to be equipped for every good work. God knows those that are His. This letter is a reminder to us to know the word. To be ready in season and out of season. Pick up our sword, read it, and use it. Be equipped for every good work.
