Matthew 5:16, “Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven.” My sister got me two solar powered hot air balloons yard ornaments. They are beautiful. I put them on my new deck and the first night both of them lit up with a flame. I hung them just under the eaves of my roof. I noticed the next day they didn’t come on and realized they weren’t getting enough sunlight to power them. As I sat here this morning, I thought about those lights. How without the sun they couldn’t shine at night. I realized that without staying in God’s word and His presence each day the light within me doesn’t have the strength needed to shine for others to see God’s work in me. His strength allows me to shine in times of trouble and times the enemy attacks. But if I am hanging under the eaves of life, I am not getting the full strength of His power. I need to move into the Son’s light. If I stay under the eaves, I will slowly lose my strength. These little ornaments taught me a lesson. Others won’t see the beauty of serving God if I am not in the direct light of His power each and every day. The enemy wants you hanging where you aren’t in God’s source of light. Do you find yourself without the strength you need to shine when the enemy attacks? It is as simple as moving to where you have the direct source of strength. That is in God’s presence. Isaiah 40:20 says, “He gives power to the faint; and to them that have not might, He increases strength.”

Love that! Great illustration and yes we need to make sure we stay in the SON’s Light….if we intend to shine bright!
