Philippians 2:1-, “If therefore there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, f there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, unified on one purpose. Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind, let each regard one another as more important than himself; do not merely look out for your own personal interest, but also for the interest of others. Have this attitude in yourselves, which was also in Christ Jesus.” I remember in the 90’s seeing the W.W.J.D. bracelet for the first time. I asked what W.W.J.D. meant and was told it meant “What Would Jesus Do” I thought it was a powerful way to remind us daily that our first thought that enters our minds before we speak, or act is what would Jesus do in this situation. Philippians 2 tells us how we should act. “If there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of Spirit, if any affection and compassion.” If we get into the habit of stopping to think of these words before we speak or act, we will find that it is easier to have the same attitude that was in Christ. So many times, our minds, our speech and our actions are contrary to how we need to be. 1 Thessalonians 5:15, “See that no one repays another with evil for evil, but always seek after that which is good for one another and for all men.” As we walk this life as Christians, let our first thought be “What would Jesus do.” Ask yourself this each moment of your day. 1 Thessalonians 5:21, “But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good.”
