Deuteronomy 1:29-31 “Then I said to you, “Do not be shocked, nor fear them. The Lord your God who goes before you will Himself, fight on your behalf, just as He did for you in Egypt before your eyes, and in the wilderness, where you saw how the Lord your God carried you, just as a man carries his son, in all the way which you walked, until you came to this place.” Moses led the people out of Egypt to the land of milk and honey. We too are being led out of Egypt. The place where we were slaves to our sins. The place where we were held captive to misery and destruction. When you accept Jesus as your Savior, the chains of bondage are broken. We are no longer slaves but free men. Galatians 5:1 “It was for freedom that Christ set us free, therefore keep standing firm and do not subject again to the yoke of slavery.” Deuteronomy tells us God, Himself will go before us to fight on our behalf. When we are in the wilderness, He carries us as a man carries his son. Hebrews 12:1 “Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith. Who, for the joy set before Him, endured the cross, despising the shame and has sat down at the right hand of the Throne of God.” Run with endurance the race set before us. 2 Timothy 2:5 “and also if anyone competes as an athlete, he does not win the prize unless he competes according to the rules.” Revelation 21:10-27 describes what God has prepared for us. A new Jerusalem awaits those that finish the race. Revelation 21:23, “and the city has no need of the sun or of the moon to shine upon it. For the glory of God has illumed it and its lamp is the Lamb.” Until we come to the place God has prepared for us, we must trust in Him, who has gone before us. The one who will fight on our behalf and carry us to the finish. I encourage you to read Revelation 21-22 to see the prize that awaits us.
