1 Samuel 16:7 “But the Lord said to Samuel “Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have rejected him, for God sees not as a man sees, for a man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” I love the scriptures about David and Goliath. 1 Samuel 17:1-49 tells us about how David faced Goliath, and Goliath was killed with just a stone. Goliath looked at David with distain. 1 Samuel 17:42 because David came before him with a stick. 1 Samuel 17:45-46 is a statement we all need to remember when facing our own giants that come against us in our life. “Then David said to the Philistine, “you come to me with a sword, a spear, and a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Isarel, whom you have taunted. I will strike you down and remove your head from you. And I will give the bodies of the army of the Philistines this day to the birds of the sky and the wild beast of the earth, that all the earth may know there is a God in Isarel and all this assembly may know that the Lord does not deliver by sword or by spear, for the battle is the Lord’s and He will give you into our hands.” David came before Goliath with a stick knowing that the Lord would remove Goliath and the Philistines by his heart to trust in Him. Matthew 17:20 “If you have faith as a mustard seed, you shall say to this mountain, “Move from here to there” and it shall move, and nothing shall be impossible for you.” A stone destroyed the giant in David’s path. Faith as a mustard seed can move the mountain in front of you. Exodus 14:14 tells us “The Lord will fight for you, while you remain silent.” Faith of a mustard seed. God is with us no matter what we face!
