Romans 8:35-39 “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril of sword Just as it is written for Thy sake, we are being put to death all day long; we were considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities’, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” What a great promise. Romans 8:31 says “what then can we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us?” Romans 8:28, “We know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those called according to His purpose.” What greater promises are there that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love Him. That nothing can come against us if God is for us? Paul wrote that he was convinced that we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. When we understand the love God had, to give His only begotten Son to die for our sins we can understand this promise, that nothing can separate us from the love of Christ. We too can be convinced. We have a shepherd who loves us, an interceder who stands beside us, a perfect sacrifice given once and for all. Nothing can separate us from the love of God. Romans 10:9-11 tells us how we can receive this promise. “That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead you shall be saved; for with the heart man believes, resulting in righteousness and with the mouth he confesses resulting in salvation. For the scripture says whosoever believes in Him will not be disappointed.” That is God’s promise.
