Mark 4:35-40, “And on that day, when evening had come, He said to them, “Let us go to the other side.” And leaving the multitude, they took Him along with them, just as He was in the boat and other boats were with Him. And there arose a fierce gale of wind and the waves were breaking over the boat so much that the boat was already filling up. And He Himself was in the stern asleep on the cushion, and they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing.” And being aroused, He rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Hush, be still.” And the wind died down and it became perfectly calm. And He said to them, “Why are you so timid? How is it that you have no faith?” Aren’t these passages a prime example of our walk as Christians. Jesus tells the disciples “Let us go to the other side.” They tell us He was with them in the boat. Yet when there arises a fierce gale in our lives, we call on Jesus as if He isn’t there in the same storm. What a powerful passage. When will we stop being so timid? When we start having faith that Jesus is with us through the storms? Romans 8:31 says “what then shall we say to these things. If God is for us, who can be against us.” When we read the verse “Let us go to the other side.” We must understand it includes the word “us”. Jesus is in the boat. Let us remember that we serve a mighty God. A Shepherd that cares for all His sheep. A God whose will is that none shall perish but all come to repentance. Romans 8:28 “and we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” Yes, “Let US go to the other side.”
