Romans 5:6-9 “For while we were still helpless at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will hardly die for a righteous man, though perhaps for a good man someone would dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more than having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him”. Romans 5:19 says “For as one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the One, the many will be made righteous.” Jesus offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice. While we were yet sinners and on our way to judgement, Christ died for us. We couldn’t offer any sacrifice to God for our redemption. Under the Law there would be offerings made to try to please God. People would come year after year to try to save themselves from God’s judgement. These sacrifices were what man determined to be worthy. How great is the only sacrifice acceptable to God was Jesus Christ. The gift God gave us to be truly redeemed in our hope and belief in Jesus. Jesus died for the sinners. Those unworthy of bringing a sacrifice acceptable to cleanse them, to bring them to God. The gift of salvation was made by the One who was obedient to God and willingly laid down His life for us. It was an act of total obedience that allows us to come to God, washed of sin through faith in Jesus. What is even more wonderful is that it was a final act of victory. When Jesus said “It is finished” it declared the victory over death. His words sealed us to God. Our faith in Jesus Christ is what brings us also to victory. Our earthly minds can’t understand the significance of Jesus’s sacrifice. Faith that through Jesus Christ we have been redeemed. The sacrifice is a gift from God. We don’t have to work for it, we just have to accept the gift of salvation. Faith as told in Hebrews 11:1 says, “now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen”. I love that in Matthew 17:12 says that faith as small as a mustard seed can move mountains.
